Big Board of Beer: Sam Adams Winter Lager

It is a heavier beer which resembles a cross between Sam Adams Light and Guiness but it definitly has a unique flavor. Being north of 6% alcohol by volume, Winter Lager packs a punch but isn’t a binge drinking beer unless your the Legendary James McAndrew. Overall its Sam Adams 3rd Best seasonal beer in my expert opinion and gets a B overall. Special thanks to James McAndrew and 205 for providing the test subjects

Big Board of Beer/Stories: Labet Blue

So Friday started and it was pretty much like every Friday here. Pregame party then back to the dorm. Then room 201 decided to have a late night with the 80 beers in their room. I participated and it was a good time so when I got tired I just went back to my room to sleep. So I wake up at 6:15 thinking its like 9 or 10 because of the sun and go to the bathroom. Right as I’m walking in, Matty Storm from 201 is walking out. Now I’m thinking wow this kid doesn’t need sleep but then he says “WE’RE STILL FUNNELING!” I’m check my phone and I’m like wow what a party. So I go back to sleep and then go to the basketball game at 2. My head is pounding and I’m just real tired. So I’m thinking nap then party but my friend asked me to go to a North of the Border party at 5 in the afternoon. I’m like alright I’m getting SAMMERED tonight. We get there tap the Labet Blue keg and its game on. Now Labet Blue is some seriously tasty beer. I don’t know if it was because I’m use to crappy keg beer or what but this was a magical match for the night. Now because I had 2 friends that knew the owner, we got free cups and because we got there so early we had 4 kegs til people started showing up. The goal of the night was to go beer for beer with everyone and that seemed like a great idea until about 11:30 when I went outside to take a leek. Apparently chugging a ton of beer is a great idea to get really drunk is a great way to have a lot of fun. Anyway as I’m taking a leak, I just hit a wall of sleepiness. My bright idea was to walk back to my dorm and take an hour nap. As I’m walking I start to see my breathe and I’m A-Mazed at this. I’ve lived in New England my whole life and I see this all the time but for some reason I was like WOW THIS IS SO COOL. I literally spent 13 extra minutes outside just practicing being a dragon. Finally when I go into the dorm, I walk up and go in my room to take my nap. As I’m trying to get into bed I trip on all the clothes I have piled up and just flat out tackle my fan. I remember thinking I am NOT that drunk. So I get into my bed, and am like time to snooze. I roll over and fall flat off the bed. My roommates are laughing their asses off and I’m like darn I am that drunk. Overall I think it was a great night even though I passed out mad early. Some quotes for thought:

“I’m 100% sure I pissed myself”- I didn’t piss myself. I was trying to say I’m 100% sure I will piss myself if I don’t piss right now.

“Peppermint stick is Santa’s favorite Ice Cream”- It is but I don’t know where that came from

“If a New Jersey person passes me, I’m ripping them a new asshole.”- New Jersey is number 1 on the worst state list.

Big Board of Beer: Octoberfest

Samuel Adam’s Octoberfest was a huge disappointment in my eyes. It had a crisp taste but it just didn’t deliver in the drinkability category. I could taste the October but I just didn’t like it. It grabs a C in my eyes.

This is where I am going to rank all the bottled beers that I’ve tried.

1. Bud Light ……………………… Its the beer that I drink the most on account of that its the best option at 7/11. I find it to have a crisp refreshing taste.
2. Sam Adams Light ………….. Its definitely one of the tastiest beers around but its hard to find at local convenience stores and I don’t know if I’d be able to have a real special night drinking it.
3. Sam Adams Summer Ale…… Again its a very tasty brew but its hard to find and a seasonal beer.
4. Corona…………………………… My favorite beach drink. I never use to like to drink it but as a friend once advised me, try 5 or 6 and tell me it doesn’t start to taste like candy.
5. Miller Lite……………………….. It doesn’t have a distinguishing taste such as Bud Light but I find it to be easy to drink and I always enjoy when they have commemorative cans such as the Boston Celtics Championship one.
6. Budweiser……………………….. Taste like a heavier version of Bud Light.
7. Mike’s Hard Lemonade……… I find it a relaxing alternative to have one or two before I switch to Bud Light.
8. Miller High Life……………….. Its like Miller Lite but not. I find that I live a better version of life when I drink this
9. Coors Light ……………………. Some call it a rookie beer but I find that people who really like it, really like it. I liken it to White Castle. As for the taste, I just never got into it.
10. Heineken Light…………………. My second favorite foreign beer. Brian Callahan likes it but I just don’t see the flare
11. Michelob Light………………….. Its got a taste in between Coors Light and Miller Lite. I’d have to drink it more for it to be able to move up on the charts
12. Budweiser Select………………… Its definitly in the same family as Bud and Bud Light but I would have to try more of it for it to move up. Its the official beer of Mike Rohan
13. Amstel Light …………………….. Taste is solid but the after taste is killer. Its also foriegn.
14. Heinken……………………………. Its not for me but Tommy Loftus drinks it so it must be good once you get use to it. I just don’t like foriegn beer I guess.
15. Red Stripe…………………………. Hooray beer, just not more than 2 of this one. Can’t stand the after taste.
16. Corona Light……………………… Its terrible.
17. Bud Light Lime…………………… If I want a lime in my beer, I’ll put one in.
18. Rolling Rock………………………. I guess I don’t like green bottles… or this particular brew.
19. Samuel Adams Boston Lager….. Don’t like lagers that express it loudly either.
20. Coors……………………………….. The Banquet Beer… sucks. You know you blow when Danny Gaines would rather throw you at a stop sign than drink you.
21. Michelob Ultra……………………. Its Ultra Light and has an Ultra weird taste that gives me a headache before I finish one.
22. Michelob Lager…………………… This lagers aint good.
23. Twisted Tea……………………….. If I wanted a hard tea, I would make my own.
24. Smirinoff Crap…………………….. Its crap.
